A black dog was found with an arrow through its head in Beijing on Wednesday. Luckily it was rescued in time and is now undergoing treatment.

The stray dog was spotted on a street, desperately shaking its head in an attempt to get rid of the arrow. The police and vets came to its rescue, after caring passersby called the police station and the animal care center.

Though the dog was scared of the rescuers and ran from them initially, it was eventually comforted and sent to a pet clinic for treatment.

A volunteer told the Legal Evening News that the dog’s life was saved, but its health status needed further examination.

The person responsible for the brutal attack remains unknown, but netizens are calling for justice and appealing for love and care for animals, especially homeless dogs and cats. “Even though you don’t love them, please don’t hurt them,” a Weibo user said.
